Twelve historical milestones that take the viewer through the history of the territory of Ukraine. This is a journey through the arcade of shadows of past events that we can still recreate in our memory, which still matter because they are part of the causal chain of the formation of the thinking and value foundation of European democracy. Our memory is preserved by archaeological finds, architectural monuments, fragments of ancient chronicles, our language and symbols that still hold important words that were never erased by the invasions of the Mongol-Tatar yoke or the Soviet era.
Daria Alyoshkina is a vytynanka artist, sculptor and painter who has not only given new life to the ancient Ukrainian craft of vytynanka, but has also transformed it into contemporary art and shown it to the world through her grandiose works. The artist's love for vytynanka is deeply rooted in her childhood spent in a picturesque village in Ukraine. It was there that Daria re-learned how to perceive traditions, read symbols, feel them around her and deeply experience the nature around her. Drawing inspiration from previous generations, Daria channels this energy into creating her own beautiful world of vytynanka, reviving this forgotten Ukrainian craft.
Her main visual code is the image of a woman, a guardian, a mother earth, which is also manifested in the plots of the Lace of Centuries.
