In times of peace, the table as an object represents the idea of living, sharing and welcoming, making it the heart of the house, in a nutshell.
Consider this work as a representation of the family table only in its anatomical form. The cocciopesto tabletop carries marks of past meals along with the wound inflicted on it. A wound divides the table in two: on one side, a table that has lost its vital functions transformed into an inhospitable place, and on the other, a table that brings life – the earth and an ear of wheat. A table to remind us of the urgency of the choice to be made, to decide which side or position to take. A metaphor of cocciopesto is built with broken clay dishes. Now it's up to us to decide which side of this table we're on.
NÙEVÙ STUDIO
is a multidisciplinary studio dedicated to the creation of timeless spaces and objects for living. Founded in 2016 in Puglia. Represented by Nadiya Yamnych, Walter Espedito Trentoand Massimo Romanazzi. They draw and make elements, spaces, objects and details. They apply ancient techniques and natural materials injected to present and contemporary awareness. Natural soils, cocciopesto, lime, stones, crock-concrete, mortars, clays, ceramics, herbs, timbers, metals, papers, fabrics, plants and owers. Through a sharing process, they express wishes as places. Graft in existing spaces. Design, redevelop and set up places to live. They open spaces for the light, draw with it, and make objects that make light. They play with shadows. Rebuild fragments of that original and in-perfect garden. Without a distinction between beautiful and useful, among contemplation and need. They design microhabitats.
